Polygamy

Polygamy is illegal. Why is it illegal? Is it consensual? Can Polygamy be good for women?

The answer is yes.

There are 3 ways to see it.

First, polygamy can be consensual. I say can be. Of course, any sexual relationship, including monogamy can be both consensual and in-consensual. You can have sex consensually with your girlfriend. You can also rape some pretty girl. Here, the consensuality do not depends on whether you get many girls or not but depend on whether you use flower or knife to persuade your girl friend.

Also, while many argues that the first wife do not agree, the second, third, and fourth wife knows that they're not going to be the only one. Yet they all agree. This shows that there are women that might agree to share. Hei, I am a male. I'd agree to share if the women is pretty enough.

Second, if you learn evolution theory, you'll understand that women wants the best gene. While males prefer a quantity rather than quality, women prefer quality over quantity. A male's childhood dream is to have sex with as many females as he can. A girls' dream is to have sex with a rock star or movie star.

Because males are not equally sexually attractive, it is therefore very conceivable that some males are so preferable to other males that women would rather choose to share that alpha males than be the only one for the other males.

Third, there are empirical basis that study humans sexual preferences, like Kinsey's report. Those would also support the fact that some women prefer to share a male.

All right, so polygamy can be consensual and beneficial for women. So why is it prohibited?

What about the males that don't get pick? If polygamy is legal, then some males will get more women. Many males don't get laid. So the other males would want to ration females to them.

Of course, a practical way to prohibit something is to call it so bad it can't possibly be consensual and hence has to be prohibited. Not only it gives justification for the prohibition, calling the prohibition is for the consenting' party own good can provide additional persuasive power to the prohibition.

And that's explain so many sexual taboo and misunderstanding that we know about humans' sexuality.

As for me, I have no problem with the poly part of polygamy. I have a lot problem with the gamy part. Many women are unhappily trapped in bad marriage and face huge difficulties in getting out. If there is anything that should be illegal for women's own good, it's marriage, be it polygamy or not.
